Is thefamous air fighter of the Great Patriotic War, a single twice hero of the Soviet Union from Bashkiria, colonel. He was born on June 9, 1922, in Bashkiria, in a peasant’s family. He started his military way as a sergeant and ordinary pilot. In 1944, he was appointed a commander of the air squadron. He finished the war as a mayor, fought in the battles near Stalingrad, Donbass, Crimea, Byelorussia, Lithuania, Poland and the Eastern Prussia.

By August 1944, Musa Gareev made 164 flights, displaying bravery and heroism and for that, he was given the rank of the Hero of the Soviet Union with rewarding him the Lenin’s Order and the medal “The Golden Star” on February 23, 1944. He was rewarded with the second medal “The Golden Star” on April 19, 1945, for 207 battle flights, made by him by March 1945.

In all in the course of the Great Patriotic War Musa Gareev made about 250 flights. He was a member of the Victory Parade on the Red Square in Moscow on June 24, 1945. He died on September 17, 1987 and was buried in the city of Ufa, in the Victory Park.
