The international organization UNESCO is engaged in issues of education, science and culture. The main goal of this organization is international peace and universal prosperity, as the result of cooperation between all nations and cultures. Multinational Republic of Bashkortostan, demonstrating actual civil harmony in poly-cultural society, actively joined multi-sided activity of UNESCO. In 1998 in accordance with the decree of the President RB Murtaza Rakhimov the Committee RB for UNESCO Affairs was found. The main goal of the Committee is to provide cultural, intellectual and educational cooperation with other countries and Russian regions.
In the Year of the 450th anniversary of Bashkiria annexation to the Russian state various actions, demonstrating cultural variety of Bashkortostan nations and intellectual and cultural potential were held with active participation of the Committee for UNESCO Affairs. Bashkortostan successfully works in all directions of UNO and UNESCO, using various forms and methods: festivals of cultures, UNESCO Days, UNESCO Forums etc.
Thus, festivals of national cultures were held in the towns of Kumertau, Blagoveshensk, Sterlitamak and in Karmaskaly and Askino villages in 2007. Days of UNESCO were held in Ufa (Bashkir gymnasium N144 and lyceum N5) and UNESCO Forums – in Tuimazy and Oktyabrsky towns. The tournament of declamatory art was held in Sibay and all these events were dedicated to the 450th anniversary of Bashkiria free-will annexation to the Russian state.
In 2007 the associated UNESCO schools and educational institutions, working on UNESCO projects, continued their work on such international projects of UNESCO (“Mondialogo”, “The ozone holes” and “The great river Volga route”: the uniting of the Baltic, Caspian and Black seas) and in such ecological projects as UNEP and UNISEF. As a result of this work partnership relations were established with Kazan, Samara, Saint-Petersburg, Moscow, Novorossiysk, Germany, Sweden, Norway and other countries. Pupils from the school N155 introduced three virtual projects “Bashkir national suit”, Rudolph Nureyev” and “Pavlovskoe water-reservoir in the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on March. In November 2007 the children conference on climate changes in Indonesia within the framework of the abovementioned projects, where the projects of our children were presented, took place. Six Bashkir schools were registered for participation in the conference “Tunza-2008” in Norway.
In 2006, the group of students from Salavat pedagogical college participated in the project “Inter-cultural dialogue without frontiers” in the city of Bremen, Germany. In the course of these meetings, contacts between the college and Bremen University were established and presentation of Bashkortostan, dedicated to the 450th anniversary of Bashkiria free-will joining Russia, took place.
In July-August 2007, Bashkir group of young people (14) visited Uberlingen, Baden-Wurttemberg (Germany) and the German group (15) spent two weeks in Bashkortostan together with students of Bashkir State University and Bashkir State Pedagogical University.
The international forum “The Peace Ode-2007” took place in China in August and the group from Bashkortostan won the Golden medal of UNESCO there.
Within the framework of the program of the international presentation “Bashkortostan: 450 years together with Russia” Bashkir working group visited the UNESCO headquarters in Paris in June and November 2007, where it met with V.A. Kalamanov, the Permanent Representative of Russia in UNESCO with participation of his deputy V.B. Runov, O.U.Kobyakov, culture consultant, Saifullina F.G., education advisor, V.V. Fedorinov, the secretary and representatives of the International agency for business development “Go2.ru” (Frankfurt) for coordination of organizational-technical issues for holding the international presentation “Bashkortostan: 450 years together with Russia”. The presentation is planned to be held on March 26-27, 2008.
