National artist of the USSR, laureate of the USSR State Award, art director of the State Chamber Orchestra “Moscow Virtuosos” and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the President of Moscow International Music Home. He was born on September 12, 1944, in Ufa. After the end of the war, his family went to Leningrad.
His art of violinist and bandmaster was admired in the best concert halls of Paris, London, New York, Rome, Tokyo and Stockholm. Vladimir Spivakov is rewarded with high official prizes of many countries for his contribution to music development.
He played in his native Ufa many times in spite of his constant touring round the world. The tickets for his concerts are bought up in a moment and young talents – the scholars of his personal fund often play in his programs. Thanks to the Spivakov fund ten thousand young virtuosos have a chance to be engaged in music. The subsidiary of Spivakov fund works in Ufa.
Vladimir Spivakov plays in the best concert halls as bandmaster and soloist, leads the symphonic orchestras of Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland and London, Los-Angeles, San-Francisco and the best Russian orchestras. In 1989, Spivakov for the first time organized the international music fest in Colmar (France). He is a permanent musical director of the fest till present. He is announced the Artist of Peace by UNESCO for his outstanding endowment to the world art and for his activity in the name of peace and development of dialogue between different cultures.
